Optimal oil formulation

Several clinical studies have shown that ubiquinone extracted into oil and packaged in a soft gelatine capsule that protects it from light and oxygen, such as Bio-Qinon Active Q10, is absorbed excellently (ref. 1). The oil formulation of Bio-Qinon Active Q10 achieves better bioavailability.

Absorption at body temperature

One of the most important reasons for the superior absorption of Bio-Qinon Active Q10 is the unique way in which the ubiquinone is dissolved in vegetable oil. Untreated ubiquinone is in crystalline form, which prevents efficient absorption (ref. 2). Low-quality preparations are like a mixture of crystals and oil, resulting in poor absorption. In the manufacture of Bio-Qinon Active Q10, the ubiquinone is heated in a special way, forming snowflake-like structures. At body temperature, the “snowflakes” dissolve and form a homogeneous solution that is well absorbed.

Dose and dosing

The amount of ubiquinone absorbed depends not only on the quality of the preparation, but also on the size of the dose and the interval between doses. Data from seven clinical studies show that two daily doses of 100 mg achieve better absorption than a single 200 mg dose.

Raw materials

Bio-Qinon Active Q10 contains 100% natural ubiquinone. The raw material is obtained by fermentation from a cell culture, and it is identical to the body’s own ubiquinone. It contains no unknown impurities such as those found in ubiquinone produced with the help of bacteria. Nor does it contain the harmful cis-isomers often present in cheap, low-quality, synthetic ubiquinone, which is usually made from material left over from tobacco production. All raw materials are carefully analysed before each production batch is manufactured.

Unique production method

Ubiquinone is very sensitive to sunlight and oxygen. In Bio-Qinon, oxygen is removed from the vegetable oil using a special technique during production. The capsules are opaque so that light cannot damage the ubiquinone. Patented manufacturing method, EP 3 191 444 B1.

Safety

Ubiquinone is generally considered a very safe substance. Clinical trials have been carried out with daily doses of up to 1200 mg, and no serious adverse effects have occurred (ref. 3). After supplement use, the body’s ubiquinone levels return to the same level as they were before use began. This shows that the use of a ubiquinone supplement does not affect the body’s own Q10 production (ref. 4).
