What the product is
BioActive Ubiqinol™ Q10 contains ubiquinol, which is the reduced form of ubiquinone. The preparation comes ready-dissolved in vegetable oil and is protected from both light and oxygen in soft gelatine capsules. One capsule contains 100 mg of ubiquinol and 12 mg of ascorbic acid.
The production challenge
Ubiquinol has one inherent weakness. It is a highly unstable form, because it oxidises very quickly back into ubiquinone when exposed to oxygen. Due to this property, it is an extremely challenging substance to work with in production when the aim is to make a stable ubiquinol preparation. Pharma Nord has succeeded in developing a manufacturing method that makes it possible to keep the active ingredient in its reduced form as ubiquinol.
Capsule protection
In addition to the special manufacturing method, the soft gelatine capsules also help protect the patented active ingredient of BioActive Ubiqinol from light and oxygen, so that the ingredient is carried to its actual purpose in the body.
Raw material and quality
BioActive Ubiqinol contains Q10 in vegetable oil, in light-protective soft gelatine capsules. The Q10 raw material in BioActive Ubiqinol corresponds to the Q10 produced by the body. The form of Q10 used in BioActive Ubiqinol is a trans form entirely free of cis isomers. Nor does it contain any residues of environmental toxins, just like the other Q10 products that meet Pharma Nord’s quality requirements. The Q10 raw material and vegetable oil in BioActive Ubiqinol contain no GMO ingredients. BioActive Ubiqinol is manufactured in compliance with pharmaceutical quality requirements, and the bioavailability and quality of the preparation are demonstrated with documentation.
What ubiquinol is
Ubiquinol is the reduced form of coenzyme Q10. In the human body, Q10 occurs in two closely related states, of which the oxidised basic form is ubiquinone and its reduced state is ubiquinol. Both ubiquinol and ubiquinone are beneficial and necessary for the body. Regardless of which form of Q10 is taken, the body converts it from the oxidised form to the reduced form and vice versa according to its needs.
Ubiquinol test
Ubiquinol is white in colour, in contrast to the yellow colour characteristic of ubiquinone. An easy way to test which ingredient is involved is to pierce the capsule and squeeze the substance out of it. If it is a strong yellow colour, it is in the ubiquinone form, and if it is almost white, it is ubiquinol.
