The product

Solgar® Vitamin A 5000 IU provides a high dose of fat-soluble vitamin A in the form of retinyl palmitate, a gentler form of retinol that does not irritate the stomach lining. The so-called dry-form capsule is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Need for vitamin A

The body cannot produce vitamin A on its own, so it must be obtained from the diet. The need increases during pregnancy and breastfeeding, during certain illnesses, during convalescence and heavy physical exertion, or in young people during periods of rapid growth. In addition, a one-sided diet or dieting and weight-loss regimens increase the need for vitamin A.

Absorption

Fat-soluble vitamin A is best taken with a meal, so that the fats in the food aid absorption. Zinc and amino acids also help with absorption.
