Cartridge Composition

The cartridge is made of organic carbon fibers, which biodegrade into CO2 and water, and UHMW (30%), which is inert and stable and does not accumulate in marine life. It also has a part made of plastic free of toxins such as BPA and phthalates that encases the cartridge. Capacity per cartridge: 400–600 L / 3 months

Contaminants Removed

PitcherPro uses 3-stage microfiltration technology with activated carbon and alkaline beads. The activated carbon block, made from coconut shell, can absorb chemical, gaseous, metallic and organic elements thanks to its microscopic structure and highly porous surface. As water passes through the filter, substances such as limescale, chlorine (responsible for bad taste), microplastics, sand, rust and sediment, lead, mercury, salmonella, legionella, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceutical residues, nitrates and 80 more contaminants of 1–2 μm (microns) are trapped in the spherical particles of the activated carbon. The result is filtered, clean water, ready to drink.

Cartridge Use

We recommend fitting a new cartridge every 3 months so as not to lose filtering effectiveness. Why? The cartridge is made of carbon, a material of organic origin that can become a breeding ground for microorganisms, which over time can lead to the proliferation of bacteria. These bacteria gradually build up behind the filter and contaminate the water. In addition, the filtered limescale will eventually reduce the water flow, depending on the hardness of the source water. The suitable water temperature is between 5–38 °C.

PitcherPro cartridges filter more than 80 substances from tap water; even particles larger than 1 micron are retained in the carbon fibers. The filtration process takes place in the following 3 stages:

Carbon Fiber

Organic activated carbon removes chemical material, chlorine, chlorine by-products (VOCs, THMs, HAAS, etc.), taste, odor, pesticides, herbicides, PFAS and more than 80 contaminants. It also reduces heavy metals such as lead, copper, mercury and more. The carbon fiber is designed to prevent particles larger than 1 micron from passing through. This prevents, for example, all microplastics, suspended particles and most bacteria from passing through the filter. It also stops particles from pipe corrosion and biofilm (bacteria that build up inside pipes) from passing through.

Alkaline Beads

Alkaline and magnesium beads for better taste:
The cartridge contains alkaline beads. Thanks to the alkaline and magnesium beads, water that passes through the filter tastes better!

Limescale Filtration

The limescale-inhibiting formula we use is patented by TAPP Water. PitcherPro reduces limescale by 80% for up to 3 months, at which point a new cartridge should be fitted.
